Talia Sarra is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman, coming from the mobs of Burri Gubba (Townsville), and Gorreng Gorreng (Bundaberg) and have a strong interest in marine life and environmental science. She has completed a double degree of Science and Arts and the University of the Sunshine Coast where she majored in ecology for science and theatre and performance in arts. She has also received a 1st class bachelor honor in Conservation Biology at the University of Queensland on her studies on the Changes in Deception Bay coastal development and habitats over 15 years. She is currently working on her PhD where she wishes to understand how First Nation knowledge is honored in understanding ocean care for the future of fisheries.
