Shane is a Gunnai man of the Mongta and Thorpe Families, a descendant of apical ancestors Charles Gluingkong and Kitty Rivers and Dan Bungyl Tambo and Kitty Wangung and of the Brabralung and Krauatunalung clans of the Gunaikurnai nation. Shane was born on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country and has called Turrbal/Yuggera Country his 2nd home for the majority of his life.

Shane is business operations leader with extensive experience across Corporate, Not for Profit and Tertiary sectors. Shane has 10 plus years experience providing leadership within first class, fast paced corporate environments. Shane brings extensive experience across business strategy, operations and strategic partnerships.

Shane has a strong passion for amplifying Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and culture and finds himself thriving in this role where he can mix this passion of advocating for community and our cultural heritage with his business strategy, operations and people skills to drive better outcomes for our people into the future.

Shane previously held the role of Head of Strategy & Partnerships and executive team member at SharingStories Foundation working with First Nations communities to protect, maintain and grow languages, stories and cultural heritage. In this role he was responsible for the oversight of planning, implementation, and ongoing management of Funding and Partnerships, Business Operations, Communications, Marketing and Community Management.

From 2016-2022 Shane held the role of Chief Operating Officer with the scaleup software firm PlaceOS. In this role Shane developed and implemented strategy and operating plans to scale the company internationally, overseeing operations of the business day to day, establishing policies and driving key initiatives to promote company culture and vision and to build key strategic client and partner relationships for growth.

From 2006-2016 Shane worked with professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers where he held a number of leadership and technology positions managing operations for internal firm services teams across client services and workplace technology groups.
