Savannah Jia-Craige is a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman with connections to the Yidinji people of the Gordonvale/Cairns region and the Komet people of Mer Island (Murray Island). Raised in Weipa on the Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, Savannah grew up on the lands of the Anathangayth, Alngith, Peppan, Thanakwithi and Wathayn peoples.
Growing up in a remote community provided Savannah with firsthand insight into the challenges many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples face in accessing healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. These experiences have shaped her commitment to supporting positive outcomes for First Nations communities.
After graduating from high school, Savannah worked with Rio Tinto for seven years in a variety of roles across heavy vehicle operations, plant operations and mine dispatch. Seeking new opportunities, she relocated to Brisbane and successfully completed the First Nations Digital Careers Program, an initiative designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in pursuing careers within the digital sector.
Through the program, Savannah attained a Certificate III in Information Technology through TAFE Queensland and gained valuable hands-on experience with eHealth Queensland. Savannah, currently works with the Indigenous Futures Centre at the University of Queensland. She is committed to building strong community connections and supporting initiatives that empower First Nations peoples, strengthen communities, and create pathways for future opportunities.

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Futures is supported by its partners and funded by the Australian Government through the Australian Research Council.
The ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Futures acknowledges and honours the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our Centre operates.
