 Kiri Olsen is a Wilman and Ballardong Noongar woman from southwestern Australia. She is a dedicated Research Assistant who plays a crucial role in supporting research initiatives and contributing to the success of projects as part of the Indigenous Futures Centre and the UTS Jumbunna Child Protection Hub. She is a registered social worker with a passion for advocacy, the promotion of social justice and the protection of human rights for all peoples, especially First Nations. Her current work involves the critical examination of systemic bias and structural violence within settler colonial systems to reimagine these systems from First Nations perspectives. She has a bachelor’s degree in media and communication and a master’s degree in social work and has worked in youth justice, out of home care and youth homelessness in Australia as well as in the service of Indigenous populations in Peru and Brazil. She enjoys connecting with people and building strong relationships that serve the community.
