April Seminar: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental healthcare access

The Indigenous Futures Seminar Series is excited to welcome Dr Tabinda Basit to present April’s seminar.

Seminar Overview:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continue to face barriers to accessing culturally safe mental healthcare, yet perspectives on these challenges can differ between service providers and the communities they aim to support. This seminar explores barriers and enablers to mental health service access in Southeast Queensland, drawing on insights from both community members and providers within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation. The findings highlight important differences in priorities and experiences, with implications for improving service access, communication, and culturally grounded models of care.
