Reema Naresh
Reema is a proud Fiji Indian woman. Born on the Island of Viti Levu, she has lived and worked in Fiji, New Zealand, the United States of America, and Australia. Her journey reflects a commitment to community development and engagement in multicultural communities, fueled by a passion for positive transformation, individual and community empowerment.
Reema is an engagement specialist with extensive experience working with multicultural communities. She has over 20 years of experience working in the NGO and health sector. She brings extensive experience in consumer partnerships and community engagement in health and research. Her expertise includes community engagement, stakeholder relationship management, project coordination, events management, and public speaking.
She has been engagement advisor and training lead for a health consumer peak NGO. In this role, she was responsible for consumer and community engagement, working closely with individuals and groups to identify needs, develop strategies, and implement solutions that meet their unique needs in the health sector. She has worked extensively with health consumers by facilitating their partnership with health services to create meaningful systems change. She continues to contribute as a health consumer with healthcare design and development for the Department of Health.
More recently, as the principal project coordinator in the Australian Women and Girls’ Health Research (AWaGHR) Centre at the School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Queensland, she has been instrumental in the development of a register of 350 multicultural women who are interested in participating in health research. She spearheaded the community engagement of the AWaGHR Centre in multicultural communities.
