Prestigious Fellowship for Centre's Elder Scholar

 

ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Futures (ARC IFC) Elder Scholar and Indigenous research pioneer, Professor Aileen Moreton-Robinson, has been made a Fellow Academy of the Social Sciences Australia (ASSA).

Aileen is a a Goenpul woman of the Quandamooka people and Australia’s first Indigenous Distinguished Professor, as well as an Emieritus Professor at The University of Queensland. Her work in Indigenous research was foundational for establishing the ARC National Indigenous Research Knowledges Network (NIRAKN), as well as leading the way to establish the ARC IFC.

Each year, ASSA honours individuals who have demonstrated excellence in social science research, innovative thinking, and a commitment to advancing knowledge that shapes policy and societal wellbeing.

ASSA stated this year’s selection “exemplifies the Academy’s mission to support and amplify the voices of researchers working on the most critical issues facing Australia and the world.”

Professor Moreton-Robinson is widely known for her extensive work and advancements in Indigenous research and her engagement in sociology in Australia.

Professor Moreton-Robinson’s numerous publications have international standing and global reach.
